Difference Between Provisional, Final, and Expanded Squad Lists
The Super Falcons squad for 2026 follows three stages: expanded squad, provisional squad, and final squad, following CAF tournament structures, which outline how African national competitions are organised.
In the expanded squad, coaches call up a large group of players for camps and friendly matches, including established internationals, new call-ups, and returning players.
The provisional squad narrows selection to players closest to the final team, plus position cover.
The final squad is the registered team for tournaments. CAF or FIFA locks the list after submission. It usually includes 23 players for major women’s competitions. Changes only happen under strict injury rules.
