France winger Michael Olise set the best FIFA World Cup assist record since 1994 after helping his side beat Sweden 3-0 in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Olise created two goals during the match to increase his tournament tally to five assists. He now leads the World Cup assists chart ahead of every other player in the competition.
The Bayern Munich winger also came close to scoring before half-time. He attempted an overhead kick, but the ball struck the post.
France’s victory secured a place in the Round of 16, where Didier Deschamps’ team will play Paraguay.
Tournament statistics show that no player has recorded more assists in a single FIFA World Cup campaign since 1994 than Olise’s five.
