Marcus Rashford has ended his Barcelona spell after completing a season-long loan from Manchester United. The England forward thanked the club, his teammates and supporters in a farewell message after Barcelona chose not to make the move permanent.

Rashford thanked everyone at Barcelona for making his stay memorable. He said he enjoyed every moment at the club and wished the team success in the new season.

The loan revived his form after a difficult period at Manchester United. It also helped him earn a place in England’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Rashford’s Barcelona Loan Spell

Rashford arrived at Barcelona before the 2025–26 season and soon became a regular in the starting line-up. He helped the club retain the La Liga title while contributing 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

Barcelona included an option to buy the forward for about €30 million (£26 million). The club, however, decided against activating the clause before the loan expired.

Barcelona strengthened its attack with the signing of Anthony Gordon and adjusted its plans for the new season. The club therefore decided not to complete Rashford’s permanent transfer.

Rashford had hoped to settle his future before the World Cup, but the season ended without an agreement.

What Comes Next For Marcus Rashford?

Rashford has returned to Manchester United, where he still has two years remaining on his contract. Michael Carrick will assess the forward during pre-season, although the club remains willing to consider suitable offers.

Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs monitoring his situation. Reports value a potential deal at about £30 million, although his salary could complicate negotiations.

For now, Rashford’s future remains undecided. He can stay at Manchester United or complete a move before the transfer window closes.
