Manchester United are dealing with several fitness issues as they prepare for their Champions League meeting with Sabah and the Manchester derby against Manchester City.

Marcus Rashford was substituted during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Everton after 70 minutes. Michael Carrick said the forward had felt a minor problem, while other reporting described the issue as nothing major.

Marcus Rashford

Rashford started against Everton and was replaced in the second half. Carrick explained the decision afterwards: “Yeah, he was feeling a bit of something.”

Rashford’s next possible appearance is against Sabah on September 10, although his fitness will determine whether he is involved. Manchester United then face Manchester City on September 13.

Carlos Baleba

Baleba has not yet made his Manchester United debut after arriving from Brighton with an ankle problem.

Carrick previously said: “He’s got a little ankle issue, so maybe a couple of weeks or so, maybe three weeks.”

He also said: “We knew that before, so it’s no major issue.”

Carrick did not set a firm date for the midfielder’s return. The latest injury information places Baleba’s potential return around September 20, while his earlier two-to-three-week timeframe points towards a return during September.

Matthijs de Ligt

De Ligt remains on his way back from a long-term lower-back injury that required surgery. He has returned to first-team training but still needs to regain match fitness after his lengthy absence.

Carrick said: “Matt [De Ligt]’s obviously been out for a long period of time, but he’s training and great to have him back.”

He added: “He’s in good shape and moving in a good direction.”

The latest injury information puts his potential return around September 20, although he remains unavailable for selection while he builds up his fitness.

Amad Diallo

Amad has missed United’s opening league matches after suffering a muscle problem in training.

Carrick previously said: “Amad won’t be involved this week. He’ll be out for a little bit longer.”

His potential return is listed around September 13, when United host Manchester City.

Manuel Ugarte

Ugarte faces the longest recovery. He underwent surgery for a knee ligament injury suffered while playing for Uruguay at the 2026 World Cup and has entered rehabilitation.

There is currently no confirmed return date, with his absence expected to cover a significant part of the season.
