Terem Moffi vs Victor Boniface is becoming one of the biggest selection debates in Nigeria ahead of the new season. With BeÅŸiktaÅŸ pushing to sign Moffi from OGC Nice, the Super Eagles striker could return to regular football, while Boniface continues to fight for a bigger role alongside Victor Osimhen under Eric Chelle.

Reports from Turkey claim BeÅŸiktaÅŸ are working on a deal for the Super Eagles striker after OGC Nice decided they are prepared to sell him this summer. The 27-year-old is looking for a fresh start after returning from a loan spell at FC Porto.

The transfer interest comes at a time when competition for places in Nigeria’s attack remains intense. Osimhen continues to lead the line for the Super Eagles, while Victor Boniface, Moffi and several other forwards are competing for opportunities under head coach Eric Chelle.

Terem Moffi Vs Victor Boniface: Recent Club Form

Moffi enjoyed a productive spell in Ligue 1 after joining OGC Nice from Lorient in January 2023. He scored 11 league goals during the 2023-24 campaign and established himself as one of the club’s main attacking threats.

His progress stalled after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the summer of 2024. The injury kept him out for more than 300 days before he returned to action.

Nice later loaned him to FC Porto for the second half of last season. He made 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and providing one assist. Porto chose not to activate their option to sign him permanently, sending the Nigerian back to France.

According to reports, Nice are now open to a permanent sale, while BeÅŸiktaÅŸ have identified Moffi as one of their priority attacking targets.

Terem Moffi Vs Victor Boniface: Who Has The Edge For Nigeria?

Boniface heads into the new season after another campaign with Bayer Leverkusen, where he remained one of the club’s attacking options despite injury interruptions.

The 24-year-old has established himself as one of Nigeria’s leading forwards at club level, but he has yet to enjoy the same impact for the Super Eagles.

Injuries forced Boniface to miss the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, allowing Moffi to join Nigeria’s squad for the tournament after receiving a late call-up. The Super Eagles reached the final before losing to hosts Ivory Coast.

Since then, both forwards have remained part of Nigeria’s attacking pool whenever available for selection.

How Moffi And Boniface Compare

Both players offer different qualities in attack.

Moffi has built his reputation on movement inside the penalty area, physical strength and finishing. He has also played in Lithuania, Belgium, France and Portugal since leaving Nigeria.

Boniface combines strength with technical ability and often drops deeper to link play before joining attacking moves. His performances in Germany have attracted widespread attention over the past two seasons.

Both players have represented Nigeria at senior level, while Osimhen remains the Super Eagles’ first-choice centre-forward.

If Moffi completes a move to BeÅŸiktaÅŸ and returns to regular football, he will add another competitive environment to his career. Boniface, meanwhile, will continue his development in one of Europe’s top leagues as both forwards compete for places in Nigeria’s squad ahead of future international fixtures.
